Mayor Square
The Mayor Square, also known as Plaza de Armas of Cusco, is the main public space in the city since its foundation, by the Spanish, in 1534.
Located in the centre of the city, the square stands out its buildings, of colonial architecture, which reflect the passage of the Spanish conquerors in the city.
This was the point chosen to begin creating the Imperial City, which became the capital of the Inca Empire.
Cathedral
The Cathedral of Cusco is one of the most beautiful and significant places in America. It was built between 1560 and 1664 on Quishuarqancha, an ancient Inca palace, with stone blocks brought from Saksayhuman.
It combines a mixture of stules: Gothic, Baroque and Renacentist. On the façade are the best expressions of colonial golsmithing, recreating the great Spanish cathedrals along with Gothic style. In the altarpiece and the monumental towers you can appreciate the Baroque style.
It was considered Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
MAP
The Pre-Columbian Art Museum (MAP) presents to the world the artistic manifestations created by women and men of ancient Peru.
It is located in Casa Cabrera, a building full of history. It functioned as a school for the children of the nobility, as a convent and as a house after the purchase of it by Don Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera y la Cerda, whose noble shield is preserved in the cover of the stone.
It currently exhibits 403 pre-Columbian pieces from the collection of the Larco Museum of Lima selected for their aesthetic value.
